Green Amendments are self-executing provisions added to the bill of rights section of a (state's) constitution that recognize and protect the rights of all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or income, including future generations, to pure water, clean air, a stable climate, and healthy environments. Passing a Green Amendment is a priority advocacy issue of LWVNJ. In September, LWVCC formed an action team to advocate for this amendment, focusing our efforts in Camden and Gloucester Counties.
Current bills in NJ - ACR72/SCR15 – initially introduced in 2017/18, were reintroduced in 2022. Each was referred to committee, but no further action has been taken.
The team’s current focus is to get out in the community to build strong support that we can demonstrate to legislators to lobby for getting action on these bills.
